OUR COMMITTEE
The NZSMN gives thanks to its members who voluntarily serve to develop the kaupapa of social marketing / behaviour change.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
We acknowledge and thank everyone who has contributed their time, insight, and energy to this work. Your ongoing dedication and belief help move us forward.
The NZSMN celebrates the massive contribution our foundational chair Tracey Bridges has made to the profile and professionalism of Aotearoa New Zealand social marketing / behaviour change practice.
Tracey’s thought leadership, international and local connection-making ability and selfless dedication to growing others started in Logos public relations, then Porter Novelli and developed further as partner in Senate SHJ and has continued into her independent consulting and Board leadership roles. Tracey’s sharp mind and big heart continue to inspire the committee’s approach.

The deliberate use of social marketing techniques began in Aotearoa New Zealand with the Health Sponsorship Council (HSC) and the Auahi Kore Smokefree brand around the turn of the century and developed further with SunSmart, Bikewise, Quit-Me Mutu and Feeding our Futures. We acknowledge the vision, drive and humanity of Iain who led HSC from 1992 to 2012. He also initiated the concept of collective best practice by networking practitioners and strengthening that further with several ‘Social Marketing Downunder’ conferences during the 2000’s. These drew heavily on Iain’s local and international contacts as well as the trust and respect he had earned.
